Gym Etiquette

Out of respect and for the safety of our athletes we ask that everyone adhere to the following rules of the gym.

  • * Please be on time and stay late to cheer on others – remember to not clean up your equipment until everyone is done.
  • * Introduce yourself to all newcomers. We are more than a gym, we are a community. If you see a CrossFitter you haven’t met, introduce yourself…they may be peeling you off the floor at the end of the WOD.
  • * We are your coaches, not your parents – clean up after yourself. Any weights or equipment left out will earn you a burpee penalty.
  • * Respect the gear. Don’t drop empty bars! We pride ourselves on outfitting the box with nice equipment for you but it is expensive, don’t ruin it.
  • * Chalk is a privilege. Use it sparingly and keep it where it belongs…on your hands or in the bucket.
  • * Clean up your DNA! Blood, sweat, skin and spit do not belong on our equipment when you are finished. Clean it and sanitize it!
  • * Cheating is lame – be honest with everyone else and yourself. You know what full range of motion is, so there is no excuse for short changing it or skipping reps. You are in here to get better so don’t set yourself up for failure.
  • * Don’t cherry pick WODs. CrossFit is all about being well-rounded and constantly varied. Just because you don’t like one of the WODs it probably means that it contains things you need to work on.
  • * Negativity is not tolerated. This is a facility of awesomeness. Be optimistic, have fun and push yourself and those around you to be better.
  • * Don’t make us ask you for money! Dues are due on the 1st.
  • * Check IT at the door. Big Mountain CrossFit is a cathedral of physical performance. Clear your mind and work hard. When you’re done and you leave, you will be refreshed and your issues will be easier to deal with. One final warning about ego…sometimes it’s hard to let this go. CrossFit is magical in its ability to wreck egos. You have been warned.
  • * Listen. The coaches are there for a reason and don’t want to see anyone get hurt or develop bad habits. When we tell you to reduce weight, stop or do something LISTEN and DO IT.
  • * Dress Code – Don’t worry about how you look. Worry about how you perform. This is a casual environment, no shirt, no shoes, no worries.
  • * We provide cubbies for your equipment. Please make sure it is IN the cubby and that you take it home occasionally to wash it!
  • * Brag! Tell your family and friends how you’re getting in the best shape of your life! You’re having fun. You’re doing things you never thought possible. Be proud!
  • * CrossFit is not a 1 hour magic pill. Coming in each day is only part of living healthy. To achieve optimal results you need to eat right, refrain from too much alcohol, get a good nights sleep and take rest days. You only get one body, what you do with it is up to you.
